Social media fulfils base human needs

ITWeb has just published an interesting article about social media fulfilling five base human needs. According to a study,  five key needs that underlie the reasons people interact online via social media are diversion, recognition, progression, relationship and learning.

Apparently, the important question to ask is not what people do online, but why they do it. “By continually asking why, we have come to realise that beneath all the trends lies a single and important truth: that five real, human and fundamental needs underpin all social behaviour,” the article quotes.
